Restoration House of Northern Michigan

Home. Hope. Healing.

Red Brick

Our Mission

Our Vision

Restoration House of Northern Michigan provides housing, mentoring, and life skills development in a Christ-centered environment for 18- to 24-year-old women in need of home, hope, and healing.

Each young woman will gain the opportunities, skills, resources, and relationships she needs to build a healthy adult life.

Although we are a Christian organization, young women of all faiths and spiritual beliefs will be welcomed.

Creating Lasting Impact

Home

Safe and Affordable Housing

Because safe and affordable housing is fundamental to human well-being, Restoration House plans to house up to six young women at a time in our historic home in Northern Michigan.

Hope

Education, Career, and
Life Skills

Restoration House plans to provide:

  • Support for formal education so that program participants can finish high school or earn GEDs, as well as begin college classes.

  • Work-related mentoring and preparation.

  • Skill-based training in a number of areas essential to healthy adulthood.

Healing

Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual Health

Each woman will create her own plan for building her new life  and sign an agreement to follow that plan with RH staff encouragement and support. The goal will be to become physically, emotionally, and spiritually healthy enough to build resilience for life's future challenges and to experience joy and purpose in life.

Did You Know?

More than 23,000 youth age out of the U.S. foster care system each year.

  • 20 percent become instantly homeless.

  • 25 percent suffer from PTSD.

  • Only 50 percent will be gainfully employed by age 24.

  • Only 55 percent will finish high school, and 3 percent will ever complete college.

  • More than 60 percent of sex trafficking victims have spent time in foster care or group homes.

  • A shocking 70 percent of the young women will be pregnant before age 21.

Restoration House wants to change those statistics for the young women who walk through our door.

Skill Development

Empowering young women with essential skills and knowledge is at the core of our mission. We plan to provide training programs, educational workshops, and mentorship opportunities to equip our program participants with the tools they need to thrive as independent adults.

Desired Outcomes

Each woman who enters Restoration House will leave as a fully prepared young adult who is:

  • Educated and trained for work life/career.

  • Knowledgeable in managing her finances, home, and life.

  • Relationally, emotionally, and spiritually healthy enough to embrace the joys and challenges of life, enjoy healthy relationships, and live out her full purpose.
